<description>&#60;p&#62;Wideband Code Division Multiple Access. One of a few types of 3G network, it works in a similar (but incompatible) way to current CDMA technologies. W-CDMA uses a much larger chunk of the available frequencies to enable much greater data access speeds over CDMA. Often touted as a third generation follow on to the GSM system (hence the term 3G). It forms the basis for the current UMTS and Japanese FOMA network systems.
